No doubt the world yearns for healing at this time. We are all very confused and incredibly tired of this never-ending battle. This article focuses on the energy of these very days which, astrologically, are seen as pivotal ones.
On November 17th Mercury opposes Uranus for the third and final time this year. Why is this transit so important?
Let’s look back at the past two hits of the same configuration in order to identify any patterns. The first hit occurred on October 7th, whereas the second (retrograde Mercury) on October 19th. Since early October this wave of dissatisfaction and information polarization has been accelerating indeed. The trend was at its highest under the Uranian Full Moon which occurred by the end of October.
Divisive opinions have been accompanying the current Mercury-Uranus standoff
The final hit will occur tomorrow, when Mercury finally moves across the 8th degree of Scorpio. It won’t clash again with Uranus for a while. These very days may actually bring a literal ‘release’. Such ‘unlocking action’ may be unexpected, shocking and sudden (Uranus). Let’s not forget that Mercury-Uranus interactions can also give rise to genius and interesting developments too. Mundanely, the opposition may affect trade, transportation and the media (Mercury). Whatever the actual manifestation of such energies turns out to be, it will represent forward movement. No matter how uncomfortable.
Does this mean we are done with this exhausting storm? I don’t think so.
Let’s now look at the positive sides of this whole story. Mars has just turned direct and it is now gaining momentum slowly but nicely. Mercury, almost clear from its irritating opposition to Uranus, is by now moving fast enough not to block our thinking and plans anymore. Jupiter has ‘overtaken’ slow-moving Pluto, therefore their final conjunction has occurred. They are still close in orb, but we are now in the descending phase of a long transit which has deeply changed this world. So, the triptych in Capricorn is moving forward at different speeds, and Pluto remains behind. We are now moving towards a Saturn-Jupiter conjunction, which will occur at the Winter Solstice in December (read my previous articles for detailed information about the astrological weather of the coming months and years). Venus will clear its squares to the Capricorn cluster (Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto) by mid-week, and this will decrease the level of Cardinality at play. Mars won’t be clearing Aries before January, so our desire to move forward and build up the worldly momentum again still has to overcome certain obstacles.
Each fast transit across the four Cardinal signs has obviously created a ‘disturbance’ to the Capricornian theme of the year (Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto conjunction). This is how a dominant challenge, represented by any powerful slow-moving planetary configurations, gets revitalized throughout the months in which it is active.
The clear ‘energy shift’ which can be identified in the skies will unfold as follows:
- Venus clears the Capricornian cluster by mid-week
- Jupiter and Saturn make a conjunction in ‘freedom-oriented’ Aquarius on December 21st
- Mars goes past all of its ‘slow’ squares by the end of January
This simply suggests an impending ‘shift’ of global ideology. We are on the verge of some kind of plot-twist the details of which are not yet clear. We shall just hope that the world at large will be able to embrace the healing opportunities that are about to manifest. Astrologically speaking, it seems quite hard to envisage a long period of darkness like the one which has been ruling the past 9 months, dominated by fear and restrictions. Those elements were archetypal manifestations of the unusual Capricornian pressure imposed on this world. That pressure will fade soon. It will turn into ideological zeal and unpredictable shakeups within society. From a collective psychological point of view, a shake-up whatsoever is what will probably have the power to ‘unlock’ the deep-seated impasse which has been restraining the world at large so far. That very process can potentially initiate the healing phase for humanity.
Metaphorically, these days feel like trying to move a huge rock. The static inertia of that rock is significant, so it takes a lot of effort and time for it to gain a considerable speed. Likewise, once it is running, it will be quite hard to stop that stone from rolling down the hill. I’d say, that clearly describes the Saturn-Uranus energy which will dominate years 2021 and 2022. As specified by Melanie Reinhart in her famous book ‘Chiron and The Healing Journey’, the Saturn-Uranus interaction is linked with Chironian processes. The incredible instability represented by this planetary combination often represents the ground upon which ‘healing’ can occur. Saturn-Uranus storms urge us to depart from those patterns which do not serve the ultimate purpose of life, driving us towards unity and realization. The healing journey is painful and it oftentimes sets us apart from the rest of society. However, it is through that ‘ordeal’ that the human spirit is urged to look at existence in its purest form. Realization can only occur by surrendering to the ultimate will of nature.
