Middle East & the Saturn-Uranus cycle

Worldwide attention is on Gaza. This article traces the roots of the late Arab collective journey.

The events of these days are emblematic of how violent the collective psyche can become under the need for change.

The events which are occurring in Gaza ring major bells for the world at large. With the Summer Solstice approaching, the Cardinal Axis still sensitized because of last year’s eclipse, an imminent Mars-Pluto opposition and the reactionary Saturn – Uranus waning square, the global community witnesses an utter disintegration of social balance in Israel. The possibility of a ripple effect exists, but we shall hope that diplomacy and peace will eventually and somehow prevail.

Palestinian autonomy was declared on May 4th 1994. The position held by the Sun at that time is now being lit up by Uranus’ transit in Taurus. Therefore, the current Saturn – Uranus square, which has been instigating unrest in other parts of the world, is manifesting its reactionary effects in this region as well. As written in Saturn – Uranus Square: the World Changing, under this influence society feels the need to break boundaries, end oppression, reshape geopolitical balances, establish new values. This fierce archetypal battle is currently manifesting in Israel and Gaza at both the popular and military level. We are witnessing the Uranian popular force being subdued by Saturnian military action.

The degree of social unrest and military retaliation is also represented by Pluto’s conjunction with the Israeli IC. The territorial dispute in act is powerfully symbolized by this astrological transit. In 2020, the several transits of Jupiter and Saturn across that area of the zodiac charged up the social scene, possibly giving Israel the strength to dangerously reinforce its military setup and territorial control. At the same time, the extensive late-2020 Mars – Pluto waxing square brought a wave of new diplomatic relations with some Arab countries. The move was also met with criticism, but it is quite interesting to see how those accords are in danger as we approach the Mars-Pluto opposition. The Israeli 1948 chart shows 25 Cancer culminating; it is worth remembering that in early June 2021 Mars will oppose Pluto in tight alignment with the national Meridian Axis. For Israel especially, the undertone of these years is going to be an extensive Pluto – Eris square acting across the nation’s Angles. Eris at 24 degrees of Aries, in conjunction with the national Descendant, is going to bring waves of confrontation each time faster planets like Mars will form hard aspects with it and Pluto. With Mars currently moving towards a lineup with those two dwarf planets, it seems that the current escalation is set to build up. Also, Uranus will not conjunct the Palestinian Sun with exactitude before the Summer Solstice. A new revolutionary period begins for the Arab world. Is all this fighting going to last for a long time? Nobody knows, but we can trace the roots of this story, with the Arab journey being in sync with the Saturn – Uranus struggle.

Looking back, Saturn opposed Uranus in 2010. An explosive Jupiter-Uranus-Saturn-Pluto Cardinal T-Square animated the skies in those times. Therefore, the opposition phase of the Saturn – Uranus cycle represented a culmination along the Arab journey. In fact, the Arab spring brought about two years of widespread revolution across North Africa and the Middle East. In clear Saturn-Uranus fashion, several peoples started fighting for their national identity and for the dismantlement of outdated tyrannies. Back in the early 2000s, at the waxing Saturn – Uranus square, the Arabs faced an unprecedented surge of internal extremism, with events that eventually led to the Iraqi war. At the meeting of the Palestine National Council in Algiers on 15 November 1988, Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, proclaimed the independence of Palestine. (The Book of World Horoscopes, N. Campion, Wessex Astrologer). That occurred under the last Saturn – Uranus conjunction, exactly when this current cycle began.

We can expect the current waning square to set the stage for a further reorganization of the Arab world, with another major turning point by the time the next cycle begins, in 2032. This is quite important to keep in mind, especially considering the fact that the Saturn – Uranus conjunction of 2032 will occur in Gemini, in tight opposition to Palestine’s natal conjunction, and just after Israel will experience its first Uranus return.

The extraordinary wave of protests which are currently occurring in the major capitals of the world is emblematic of the revolutionary nature of 2021/22. As I have written in several articles, during these months society is going to address deep social and humanitarian issues. Different peoples will have to confront their own opposing interests, hopefully recurring to diplomacy rather than weapons.

I've been researching astrology for almost a decade. A profound scrutiny of the human psyche is undertaken by looking at cosmic configurations; this provides the groundwork for any observation of the global trends which affect society at large. Fascinatingly, astrology tells us about the underlying resonance which exists between the pulsating vibrations of life on Earth and the interactions occurring in the cosmos. For a long time I've observed and searched for proofs of what drives the uniqueness of life on Earth; I do not look for answers any more, I just admire how evolutionary shifts reflect the relentless, intricate dynamism of the cosmos
