I have been fascinated by the profundity and eccentricity of Chiron for a long time. This wild asteroid has a lot to tell us, as it brings us together with our true selves, yet showing us the horrible pain of our deepest faults.
Chiron is currently in Aries, and when faster-moving objects line up with it, we find ourselves limited by our Egos, hurt by our rage, destroyed by our desire for action. It is in Aries that Chiron descends into bestiality, addressing society’s unexpressed identity, raising issues of nationalism and warfare, often depriving us of the empathy needed to avoid brutal action. It is said that with Chiron we are eventually called to heal something, to bridge the gaps. In Aries we encounter an opportunity to refine our raw potential, to address our humane, developed side, and leave behind any sign of ‘small-man syndrome’.
‘Fatti non foste a viver come bruti, ma per seguir virtute e canoscenza’.
‘You were not made to live as brutes, but to pursue virtue and knowledge’.
Inferno, canto n. 26, The Divine Comedy. Dante Alighieri
Last week I wrote that the New Moon in Aries would be particularly important amid the current geopolitical disaster. In fact, in pure Chironian fashion, we have been shown something horrendous which may further destabilize the current situation. Among the controversies which have obviously risen, that’s human nature after all, an unthinkable extermination of civilians has occurred in war-battered Ukraine. The details perhaps do not really matter, what matters is the Chironian experience our world is asked to go through, during this particularly unstable month. Mars has made another conjunction with Saturn, a symbol of massive energy shifts, as if running against a wall. The side effects of this new synod’s birth may be critically attuned with a massive humanitarian crisis.
With Chiron in Aries, we are given the opportunity to revive the primal sparkle of life, because also here we can find wisdom, that which is typical of every Chironian journey. However, we may also run the risk of smothering that flame altogether.
