A complex Saturn – Uranus waning square is approaching, while unbalance and discomfort continue to dominate the world view. The current planetary configuration in Capricorn has obviously unleashed enormous amounts of energy. All this comes with the flavor of the most conservative of astrological signs. Concurrently, a fastidious semi-square between Uranus and Neptune participates in the whole story; no wonder why humanity is still looking for a way to clear out the fog and move forward with decision.By looking at next year, a specific configuration becomes prominent; in fact, an extensive Saturn – Uranus square in fixed signs will dominate 2021, remaining within orb throughout most of 2022.
A highly charged configuration, it will occur right after a long period of social, political and economic destabilization. The long square will trigger profound changes all over the world. The interval between two successive Saturn – Uranus conjunctions is around 45 years long. Such period visibly marks an entire cycle along the cyclical reorganization of social dynamics. The 29-year cycle of Saturn resonates with both individual and collective growth. Its ultimate meaning is that of grounding ideas into reality. On the other hand, the 84-year cycle of Uranus is related to slower evolutionary trends; it addresses the ebbs and flows of ideological and intellectual force. While Saturn sets the boundaries of that which we create materially and methodically, Uranus looks beyond; it opens doors to the realm of idealism and freedom. Obviously, the interaction between these two planets is generally accompanied by turbulent reshuffles within society.
Each conjunction sets the stage for a new half-century phase in which society at large seeks a different governmental/ideological balance. By looking at past Saturn – Uranus cycles, we get a clear idea of the rhythm at which leadership currents change on a large scale. André Barbault’s book ‘Planetary Cycles – Mundane Astrology” contains a clear description of such phenomena.
What times are we living in?
We are currently approaching the last quarter of the current Saturn – Uranus cycle, which started with a conjunction period in 1988. It will end in 2032 with another conjunction. The last quarter of each cycle starts off the disintegration of obsolete structures. This brings a period of crisis necessary for the discovery of newness by the time a new conjunction occurs. The end of the 1980s was obviously a time of turbulent upheaval; the major outcome of the latest Saturn – Uranus conjunction was the fall of the Eastern bloc. This caused the consequent shift of power towards the West. The disintegration of the USSR was an utter manifestation of the instability of Saturn – Uranus alignments. Such planetary interactions provoke rapid shakeups within the world of structure and control.
Saturn is akin to traditions and the Establishment while the nature of Uranus is both sudden and cold-blooded. As a result, under Saturn – Uranus aspects the foundations of society at large shake badly due to society’s desire for change.
As the USA face their Pluto return (this means that Pluto is now transiting the same area of the zodiac where it was in 1776), a profound metamorphosis is occuring within the country. Also, Neptune is currently opposing the position it holds within the Independence Chart. This is the main reason why new social movements are developing nationwide. The next Inauguration Day will occur under a complex configuration of great importance. In January 2021, the above-mentioned Saturn – Uranus square will be accompanied by Jupiter in close conjunction with Saturn in Aquarius. In other words, the Inauguration of US Presidency will occur between the upcoming Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in early Aquarius and the first hit of the Saturn – Uranus square. Also, Mars will be conjunct Uranus in Taurus, together with the Moon. 2021 Inauguration Day will fall around a very heated First Quarter Soli-Lunar phase.
This shows us that the next US Presidency will be about enacting a forceful reorganization of structures and social balance. This relates to the fact that in the Inauguration chart such an unstable planetary alignment will dominate two Fixed Signs. The Moon will accompany Mars and Uranus in a financial sign, so civil unrest is not likely to subside at all.
US & the EU
There are grounds to determine that 2021 will represent a long standoff between ‘conservation’ and ‘renovation’. Obviously, the Saturn – Uranus waning square will affect many countries, and not just the USA; the current balance of forces within the European continent may need to be reassessed as well. This is because the early degrees of Fixed Signs has played a prominent role along the European Union’s history.
The three Saturn – Uranus squares will occur between 7 and 13 degrees of Aquarius and Taurus, two Fixed signs. This indicates that the upcoming destabilization will affect whatever survives by inertia within the social, political and economic scene. Such planetary stimulations are also liable to trigger powerful geological or environmental instability, including historical earthquakes, explosions or eruptions. We may assist to environment-related breakthroughs, and our relationship with planet Earth may change, hopefully in positive ways. As long as humanity succeeds in controlling its environmental impact, the upcoming planetary struggle will prove to be constructive.
All countries and organizations carrying important planetary configurations within the same degrees will be affected throughout 2021. Among those we find India, China, Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom, NATO, the United Nations and the European Union. Russia is approaching its Saturn return, and this appears as an upcoming phase of national reassessment. The domestic changes many countries and organizations are likely to experience will set the stage for the upcoming global reorientation.
The current cycle started from late Sagittarius in 1988; it coincided with a powerful crackdown of the bipolar political struggle which had been ruling the world since WWII. In fact, it directed humanity towards the expansiveness of a fast-growing globalization phase.
As the old saying goes, ‘history repeats itself’. So long as humanity becomes genuinely aware of its own evolutionary process, each crisis heralds a better future!
As we go through this extraordinary historic phase, we easily come to realise how drastically can both our collective and individual lives change. I’ve been quite busy over the last few weeks, barely managing to publish New Moon reports on this website. However, I should get up and running with my astrological work again shortly, […]
Dear readers, I apologise for not having posted any new articles in a while. Please be aware that I’ve been quite busy with work and that in a few weeks time I will be able to get more involved with my astrological research. I am sure many of us have experienced how hectic the current […]
Aquarian energy at its strongest…The next lunar month starts with the New Moon of February 11th.It will occur at 23 Aquarius, accompanied by an extraordinary alignment of Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn in the same sign.It seems quite obvious that humanitarian themes will reach an unprecedented climax between February and March. At the beginning of […]
On July 20th a New Moon falls at 28Cancer27, in tight opposition to Saturn. This is a very important detail which denotes a remarkable amount of heavy energy around the current lunar month. Saturn is often regarded as an “ominous” presence within the zodiac, yet we need to recognize its positive qualities as well, in order to fully understand the enormous depth which characterizes its 29-year cycle. It is absolutely undeniable that whenever Saturn is involved in any astrological event, heaviness, hardships and a generalized sense of “slowdown” are perceived. It is not a case that the word “lockdown” is so popular in the year in which Saturn and Capricorn have been so prominently engaged. On the other hand, we should recognize how immediately discernible manifestations of its astrological influence are profoundly linked with conscious growth and responsibility.
By looking at the current New Moon configuration, a clear emphasis of such themes is evident. The tightness with which the Sun-Moon conjunction opposes retrograde Saturn in Capricorn is not so often reproduced in the skies. The more uncommon or tighter an aspect is, the more significance it acquires, astrologically speaking. We have already seen how the end of July gave rise to a confused “second COVID-19 wave within the first”, especially in the US. The effects of retrograde conjunctions of slow planets, such as the Jupiter-Pluto one which became exact for the second time on June 30th, are coincident with times of generalized social reassessment and ideological reorientation. The high degree of confusion, together with the new wave of social restrictions, was clearly aligned with the astrological event in question. Under such climate, we are now entering a lunar month which is profoundly characterized by a high degree of disciplined force. This could indicate that the global order, both politically and socially, might experience further reorganizations, perhaps quite evidently. An interesting feature transpires from this synodic month, as the New Moon makes a very tight opposition to taskmaster Saturn, whereas the subsequent Full Moon, which occurs on August 3rd at 11Aquarius45, creates a T-Square with Uranus in Taurus. Also, the New Moon-Saturn opposition acts over the Cardinal signs of Cancer and Capricorn, whereas the Full Moon is Aquarian and squared by its own co-ruler. What does this all mean?
In simple words, the lunar month brings the “seed” of restoration, but its culminating experience will be related to some acts of sudden destabilization. Evidently, we are still in a phase which potentially brings further uncertainty and instability in order to make enough room for a new global order. In this case, the concept of “global order” does not resonate with any conspiratorial themes, but simply to the fact that the profound shifts which society is facing are already provoking a much needed re-balancing of political, social and possibly spiritual themes as well. This might not be readily evident, unless we carefully look at the big picture, also considering the historical phase during which the powerful Capricornian awakeninghas been taking place.
Interestingly, the New Moon-Saturn opposition lies on the meridian axis over Florida, one of the regions most aggressively hit by the pandemic. Again we can observe the lack of randomness in the unfoldment of global events, as they closely reflect the prevailing astrological circumstances.
The Aquarian Full Moon which occurs on August 3rd clearly suggests a high degree of instability, as mentioned already. Also, the humanitarian crisis that is becoming so largely evident is set to be gifted with newer developments. Sectors such as the shipping industry are suffering so intensely under the ongoing wave of restrictions, which has removed any sort of fluidity from regular crew exchanges in an unprecedented manner. Thousands of seafarers still remain stuck on board all sorts of vessels waiting for the slightest hope to get back to their home countries; similarly, huge numbers of workers are waiting to get a new contract, still unable to fly out of their own countries with commercial flights.
It is worth considering the possibility of such dynamism being reflected onto the territory as well. In other words, in early August we might expect intense seismic activity, especially in the Far East, where the Sun-Moon opposition acts over the Meridian Axis, while crossing some important fault lines.
On the same day, Mars in Aries will square Jupiter in Capricorn, giving rise to great ideological zest. The revolutionary power of the upcoming Full Moon is remarkable, and it might deeply affect all those countries born in the late 1940s, when Pluto was at 10 degrees of Leo. Those nations are currently experiencing the long square of Uranus to their natal Pluto placements; mundanely, this transit can be seen as an ongoing dismemberment of deeply ingrained and power-related national dynamics. With Uranus-Pluto aspects, there is an inescapable collective need to face the unknown, and this very process inevitably leads toward a regenerative yet scary encounter with darkness.
On July 25th Mars will enter its shadow, as it crosses the 15th degree of Aries, still moving with direct motion. This means that it passes the point at which it will station direct on November 14th. Evidently, a long season characterized by a literal “reorientation of individual drive and fighting spirit” has already started. In simple words, the long retrogradation of Mars in Aries, a sign which it rules, will square the ongoing gathering of heavy planets in Capricorn, which is unmistakably linked with the unprecedented wave of social change we are currently living through.
To summarize, those whose birthdays fall near July 20th or January 20th may experience a year of increased responsibilities dominated by a generalized sense of slowdown. Limitations may be imposed by either external or inner circumstances, and the way to success will be found mainly through acceptance. Those whose natal Moon is placed around 28 degrees of Cancer or Capricorn will particularly experience such pressure at an emotional level. With the Moon ruling the basic instinctual functions of body and mind, a year of inner reorganization will help in building a solid foundation, though painful or strenuous it may feel.
The Full Moon will fall across the 12th degrees of Aquarius-Leo. Those whose birthdays fall around August 3rd or February 3rd will enter a year of important changes which mainly concern relationships. With a Full Moon being so tightly aspected by Uranus, there may also be separations. All in all, the outcome will be an unrestrained call for freedom and rational understanding. The closer either the Sun or Moon are to the degrees of the current lunar phases, the tighter the aspect in the Solar Return chart; therefore, the stronger the effect will be over the coming months.
As Mars enters its retrogradation period, important developments will hopefully bring more clarity into a poignantly confused world.
Relating to the latest article “Two Eclipses show us the Healing Path”, sudden volcanic activity has occurred in Stromboli, a small island in the Southern Tirrenian Sea. The transit of Mars over the 12th degree of Aries, in applying square to the recent Capricornian Lunar Eclipse has definitely ignited powerful geological forces, as expected. As I specified previously, more research is obviously needed on the subject. The current astrological knowledge allows us to identify the major stressing factors which are likely to determine powerful geological developments in certain areas of the globe.

The end of this month is likely to bring further developments about the current social, cultural and political situation. We have recently experienced a significant Solar Annular Eclipse in the initial degree of Cancer, whose configuration is described in a previous article called “The Great Eclipse” . Remarkably, the connection between the eclipse and the Indian territory manifested in a literal way, with deadly clashes occurring along that very border with China; that region was clearly emphasized by the eclipse’s configuration. As already specified in different articles, every conjunction represents a moment of “oblivion” in which a new seed is being planted, but full awareness of the new dynamics is not there yet. At the beginning of each astrological cycle, such as the occurrence of a Solar Eclipse, there is consciousness at play, but it still works underneath a shadowy blanket. Further developments might be experienced by the next Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse and when Mars squares the eclipsed degree. In general, we can tell that for a few years, whenever important configurations reactivate the initial degrees of Cardinal signs, significant developments will be observed globally.
Also, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Southern Mexico this morning, followed by a significant swarm. At the epicenter, the Solar Eclipse fell within 4 degrees from the IC, or Lower Meridian. The IC is generally emphasized when matters related to the territory become relevant. Despite the fact that the Sun-Moon conjunction was exactly aligned with the meridian angle around 400 Km away from the epicenter of the strongest quake of the series, the Pacific fault line has evidently released some stored energy only a couple of days from the occurrence of that major eclipse. We know how seismic phenomena act as the release of stored tectonic energies, and there is astrological evidence that significant eclipses tend to act as powerful triggers. The “energetic unlocking” effects which eclipses seem to have on the planet are not only manifested as specific dynamics which arise among the human society, but they can relate to the environment as well. Major earthquakes, eruptions or tsunamis are generally linked with powerful eclipses which previously formed specific configurations along or across sensitive fault lines or in areas of high volcanic activity. “Previously” does not necessarily mean hours or days before the event, because the eclipse in question can happen even years before; consequent activations of its overall planetary configuration seem to “re-trigger” the same releasing dynamic. A lot of research obviously has to be done yet, but hopefully a day will come in which we can properly connect the cosmic dynamics with the long-term evolutionary processes of planet Earth.
A multiple activation of the 13th degree of Cardinal Signs will soon recall the configuration of a previous eclipse which has been significantly connected with geological activity in the Mediterranean. This means that July could bring increased volcanic activity in Southern Italy.
Astrologically speaking, the first week of July appears to carry a special charge. The following events will be of particular relevance:
June 28th – Mars’ Aries ingress and stimulation of recent Cancer Solar Eclipse
June 30th – 2nd Jupiter-Pluto conjunction (retrograde)
July 1st – Sun-Mercury inferior conjunction at 9 degrees Cancer square Chiron in Aries; Saturn enters Capricorn
It goes without saying that those days are quite likely to bring enhanced dynamism around the globe.
First of all, the ingress of Mars into Aries will definitely act as a catalyst for that fiery energy which has expressed itself in a very ideological way all around the globe. The previous lunar cycle, as specified in “The Dance of Fire“, has visibly brought an intense wave of dynamism which manifested through both violence and extreme idealism. The Mars-Neptune interaction has proved to be quite influential in the current wave of change which is visibly shaking the foundations of what we considered to be a solidly structured society.
The current retrogradation of Mercury is bringing lots of information out into the open, such as the publication of Michael Bolton’s book “The Room Where it Happened: A White House Memoir“, which has had a huge journalistic impact all across the globe. With Mercury moving retrograde across the 13th degree of Cancer, which is the zodiacal position of the US’ Independence Sun, the release of presidential information comes with a strong symbolic support.
As already specified in a recent article, the current retrogradation of Mercury is likely to bring out important revelations. This is both related to the Sun-Mercury-Chiron square, and the fact that it occurs in an area of the zodiac which is strongly linked with the US’ Independence Chart. Hopefully, the Sun-Mercury-Chiron square which characterizes the inferior conjunction of July 1st, will bring the necessary knowledge which can have the potential to initiate humanity towards the healing path, during this very complex historical phase.
The second hit of the current Jupiter-Pluto conjunctionwill occur on June 30th and it is likely to magnetize the weeks to come. Saturn enters Capricorn again on July 2nd, and a powerful energetic shift is impending. This whole astrological picture may bring a second wave of restrictions, but it may not be as dramatic as the previous one, if the knowledge acquired since the initial outbreak is utilized properly. Nevertheless, with Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto teaming up in the same sign again, a certain feeling of heaviness is likely to revisit many of us. Those who carry sensitive natal configurations in Cardinal signs are likely to experience important developments. This is also relevant for those nations whose charts show similar planetary placements, such as Italy, whose Venus-Saturn conjunction at 21-23 degrees Cancer will be powerfully reactivated by the second Jupiter-Pluto conjunction. In other words, July will bring those two slow-moving planets into a similar alignment as the one which occurred in March, at the time of the initial lockdown. Maybe it will all result in a different dynamic characterized by the useful awareness gained during a long phase of difficulty and sorrow.
The Jupiter-Pluto retrograde conjunction will come together with the powerful stimulation of the recently eclipsed degree by square. Mars will cross the Vernal point, or 0 Aries, forming a square with the longitude where the latest Solar Eclipse occurred.
The concomitance of different celestial configurations, at the time of a first stimulation of Mars onto the eclipsed degree, is likely to be linked with the reemergence of widespread tensions. This may either involve the India-China standoff, or the overall social and political balance between influential nations. Also, the stock market is likely to be profoundly affected by the close occurrence of these sequential events; we may expect increased market volatility, and perhaps a downturn around the end of June and beginning of July.
This powerful series of celestial events will peak with a Lunar Eclipse which occurs on July 5th at 13Capricorn37, in opposition to the US national Sun. Presidential dynamics are likely to become prominent, during a phase in which the ongoing energetic shock of the recent Solar Eclipse will come to fruition. During those days, all eyes might be on the White House.
2020 has been a year of major change, which will surely bring us into a more authentic world. The process is likely to be lengthy and painful, because the current dismantlement of social structures and limitations entails a great deal of work. We should perhaps begin looking at the month of July with great optimism, because it will somehow reignite the necessary energy which is needed to start walking out of the fear-ridden trench we have dug for ourselves.

For a long time there have been talks about the 2020 Summer Solstice Annular Solar Eclipse, given its critical placement on the sensitive 1st degree of Cardinal Cancer. In mundane astrology, charts are often set for each time the Sun enters one of the four Cardinal signs each year. These snapshots of the upcoming seasons are quite indicative of the “feeling” which will rule the months to come. If a Cardinal Ingress of the Sun is accompanied by the Moon in conjunction, it means that a New Moon occurs on one of those critical degrees. If the Lunar Nodes happen to be in close alignment with the Sun-Moon conjunction, therefore determining a further alignment in declination, a significantly important Solar Eclipse occurs. In the past, eclipses were traditionally regarded as ominous, but the truth is actually way more complex. The upcoming eclipse in Cancer is an annular one; the Moon will be at apogee on June 15th, and will still be fairly distant from Earth at the time it aligns in longitude and declination with the Sun on the 21st. The further the Moon occurs to be at the time of an Annular Solar Eclipse, the stronger the force of the corona which surrounds it. If the Moon is close enough to our planet, the eclipse will be Total, and no rim will appear around the Moon at the time of maximum eclipse along the shadow path. The spectacular vision of a Solar Eclipse is unquestionable, but it must be said that these astronomical events are not rare at all. There are eclipse seasons every six months, with each one of them bringing at least one Solar and Lunar eclipse. Depending on where it stands along its own Saros series, each eclipse will fall closer or further in longitude from the Nodal axis. The closer it falls to the axis, the lower the latitudes at which the shadow path will hit. If the Shadow path hits the Earth’s surface, the eclipse will be perceived as Total somewhere around the globe, otherwise it will just appear as a tiny, partial eclipse of the Sun at either Polar region. Partial Solar Eclipses mark the beginning and end of each Saros series.
Therefore, the peculiarity of the upcoming Cancer eclipse is represented by its astrological placement, together with its longitudinal closeness to the North Node, which determines the annular connotation. When a Solar Eclipse occurs on the first degree of one of the four Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), the meaning of the Solar Ingress for that season is greatly emphasized by the accompanying lunation.
The term energy does not refer to a “factual” connection between celestial and terrestrial events, but to a synchronicity between the realms of “above and below”. In other words, the dynamism which is often unleashed around the occurrence of major eclipses is intrinsic to the terrestrial realm, and does not “derive” from an energetic connection with the skies. The underlying reality seems to be that different layers of existence evolve according to some mysterious laws which are “interconnected by synchronicity“. Any scientific attempt at deterministically investigating the nature of such interconnection fails its purpose, because the harmonization of the universe works on a level of “meaning” rather than “form”. This important consideration proves to be quite helpful when we try to decode the peculiar, and apparent, irrationality of eclipses.
The eclipse in question will form a quincunx (150 degrees) with Saturn; coincidentally, the ongoing Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn will be forming a sextile (60 degrees) to the still-within-orb Mars-Neptune conjunction in Pisces. The first aspect enhances the need to reassess and realign two very different trends which are currently going on: the widespread need to protect the “national clan“, as opposed to the urge to take egalitarian responsibility in the midst of a social crisis. This might refer to a growing feeling of national protectiveness which doesn’t quite match the egalitarian, iconoclastic, yet ephemeral, regression of Saturn in early Aquarius. Tensions may continue to brew amidst the lack of practical, clear-cut solutions around the world. The complex sextile mentioned above provides a better picture instead. Sextiles are generally considered to bring opportunity for growth, yet this effect may not be readily appreciable during these weeks, given the nature of the planets involved. It is likely that there is increased understanding around the ongoing issues which have accompanied the ongoing Jupiter-Pluto conjunction, with Mars providing some hope and enhanced force to fight, as society goes through difficult times. Despite the harmonic nature of this aspect, the self-sacrificial essence of the Mars-Neptune conjunction will remain evident, if not even exasperated. This may become perceivable as a deepening of social discontentment and fear, during the crucial part of a year which is radically changing the world we inhabit.
Uranus will be rising over Washington DC at the moment of the exact Soli-Lunar conjunction, whereas the Pluto-Jupiter-Saturn configuration will be close to the local Midheaven, in the 10th House. It seems that the high degree of social disillusionment, and the consequent repression carried out, may not be satisfied for a while. Instead, it may well be expanding around the globe because, as mentioned already, eclipses tend to occur at times of widespread developments. The USA are approaching an important turning point in their history, entering the first Pluto return and second Neptune opposition, which will be exact in the year to come. A profound transformation is just starting in the States, at a moment in history when the population and institutions are faced with the urge to find a renewed balance.
The New Moon falls in the 3rd House over Washington; this is an element which suggests enhanced focus will be directed onto trade and finance. The presence of Mercury in the same sign and house, in close conjunction with the national Sun provides a further indication that important developments in the global trade may be initiated because of major Governmental declarations.
The chart of the Indian Independence Proclamation (August 15th 1947) shows Mars at 0Cancer34, just 13 minutes of arc away from the tropical zodiacal position of the June 2020 Solar Eclipse. The lunation will in fact activate India’s national Mars. Coincidentally, it will fall a few degrees away from the position Uranus held at the time of the Chinese National proclamation on October 1st 1949. The Taiwanese Governmental relocation to Taipei of December 7th 1949 occurred while the Moon was forming a conjunction with Uranus in the same area of the zodiac, and a quincunx to an ideologically charged Venus-Jupiter conjunction in early Aquarius – an aspect between two areas of the zodiac which will be simultaneously activated at the time of the upcoming eclipse in a powerful manner. This suggests that India, China and the island of Taiwan may be in the news quite powerfully in the weeks, months or even years to come. New dynamics related to their social development are presently getting established, and a long process of re-balancing is initiating this year around the Asian continent. To make things more dramatic, the New Moon and North Node fall close to the local Midheaven across the Indian territory, and especially along the disputed border with China. Important political, if not military, developments may occur in the already ignited area, but such may even lead to a reorganization of the forces at play. Hopefully, the eclipse will contribute in shedding the light of reason, rather than raising the winds of warfare in what seems to be an increasingly prominent Asian dispute.
Eclipses tend to sensitize those degrees of the zodiac on which they fall. Consequently, when the Sun or other planets happen to form hard alignments with those very degrees, the issues uncovered by the eclipse’s configuration generally become visible again, and humanity is offered the possibility to bring more understanding into the whole situation. On June 28th Mars will make its ingress into Aries, squaring the degree of the Cancer solar eclipse, at the first quarter of the ongoing lunar cycle. This coincidence may bring some significant developments all around the globe. This is likely to relate to an unprecedented time of dynamic interaction and defensive policies, considering the ongoing rhetorical escalation. Mars, whose relative motion through the zodiac is gradually slowing down, will in fact engage in its biennial retrogradation between September and November this year, and it won’t leave Aries until next year.
The issues which emerge this summer will probably resurface several times as the Sun and planets will align with the cardinal 0 degrees in the years to come.
It has to be remembered that each eclipse represents a huge question mark, when it comes to its physical manifestation within personal life and collective development; however, it is possible to identify the main focus points, both geographically and ideologically, for each of these extraordinarily spectacular gifts of nature.
The last time a solar eclipse occurred in the same position of the zodiac was in 2001, a year which marked an important turning point in the understanding of social security and international relations. Though the way to an effective reestablishment of global equilibrium seems to be long, this year will hopefully bring in a much more constructive fashion all the elements needed at this stage of our evolutionary journey.

The months of June and July hold extraordinary power for unlocking situations which have been stuck globally. Three important eclipses are due to occur within the next weeks, and they will set the stage for the six months to come. There is evidence that eclipses, being peculiar lunations, generally reflect massive shifts in the global scenery.
The Lunar Nodes have recently shifted to the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity; they spend around 1.5 years in each sign. With the Nodes hovering within the first degree of Cancer/Capricorn, ready to jump into the neighboring signs, there has been major turmoil and widespread dynamism. Traditionally, those degrees are regarded as majorly influential for the global equilibrium, and the concomitant Mercury-North Node conjunction at 0Cancer28 on May 28th proved significantly noisy, as the USA officially pulled out from the WHO, and widespread protests began ravaging the North American streets. The Nodal influence over society is said to carry a “karmic significance”, however – without sounding too spiritualistic – I would say it relates to the relationship of individuals and the collective with both past and future. Key moments in the Nodes’ journey through the zodiac generally correspond with massive releases of suppressed energy, and this may be either a constructive or destructive process.
With the Nodes shifting into Gemini/Sagittarius, the global focus will move towards issues of an international and intellectual type. Travel, trade and information will be the areas which undergo scrutiny during the next year and a half. The Nodes’ influence often remains quite subtle, especially when looking at individual lives, but their dance through the zodiac can be seen to synchronize with the overall trends of society at large, affecting finances, politics and science.
The first one to occur this season falls at 15Sagittarius34, in tight square to Mars in Pisces, and it is of the South Node type. It won’t be visible from the American continent, but Europe and most of Asia will be able to appreciate it.
Simplifying facts, we can say that because it occurs after the Nodal sign shift, this Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse comes at a time which strongly promotes the reassessment of foreign travel and trade issues. Being a Lunar Eclipse, and therefore a Full Moon, it relates to interactions between opposing realities, and possibly widespread confrontations. Accompanied by “nervous” Mars as well as retrograde Venus in Airy Gemini, there seems to be little diplomacy around these times. By looking at the global events, we can understand how foreign travel and trade have reached a critical point, severely affected by the ongoing wave of lock-downs which has practically halted, or at least reduced, many important activities. The eclipse in question is ruled by Jupiter, which at this time remains quite active in its retrograde trip together with Pluto in Capricorn. As specified in the previous article, the second Jupiter-Pluto conjunction is due to occur on June 30th, at a time which will probably see a full re-ignition of the recent issues connected with the global business.
Mars forms a tight square to the Sun-Moon opposition from 15 degrees Pisces, as it travels towards its upcoming conjunction with Neptune, which will occur on June 13th. This indicates how this eclipse inevitably carries enormous strength, anger and resentment. The unpredictability which often accompanies eclipses may ignite enormous shifts in the social equilibrium which, on the long run, will potentially prove to be positive. The feeling associated with this peculiar astrological configuration is one of breaking away from past restrictions, addressing issues of a sacrificial nature. The Mars-Neptune conjunction in Pisces will occur in opposition to the USA’s Neptune and square national Mars; not only is a hard aspect which is contained in the national chart repeated in the skies, but it will also reoccur in close alignment to the original planetary placements. This year’s Mars-Neptune conjunction carries a sacrificial feeling, as it speaks of self-immolation for the good of society at large. The anger that has been erupting all across the US is indicative of numerous underlying issues which are now being addressed powerfully, as the global community seeks answers for the never-ending pain of both the pandemic and social struggles. There is also potential for immense creativity and glamorous force in each Mars-Neptune square, and hopefully creative outlets will be found soon enough before the situation gets incredibly unstable.
It has to be said that, considering the enormous potential for “self-righteous fighting” which accompanies this eclipse, the risk of illusion is quite high. It is likely that the Mars-Neptune conjunction will powerfully and visibly reignite further interventions of the USA in foreign politics and even armed conflict in the near future. Mars-Neptune alignments can be extremely creative or destructive, with the latter being characterized by the emergence of utter blindness to our wounding ability. Sadly, unconstrained violence often erupts at times such as these, because the down side of this aspect reflects a potential for unconstrained eruptions of suppressed anger, which may also lead to harshly regrettable actions. The degree of uncertainty which accompanies these weeks is enormous and, despite its underlying creative potential, it may initially lead to very unpleasant outcomes.
High volatility may afflict the stock market during the coming weeks, due to the peculiar amount of intensely charged astrological configurations. The Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse may bring further destabilization to the global trade, with harsher developments to follow in the coming weeks, as two other major eclipses will come. It is not a secret that during eclipse seasons there is increased economic uncertainty, simply because the markets after all reflect the emotional ups and downs which regulate both individuals and society at large. The Nodal shift into trade and information-associated signs is likely to prove quite powerful, given the fact that is it accompanied by the arrival of such important lunations, as well as the Mars-Neptune conjunction in another Mutable sign.
Understandably, the global picture may look quite grim right now, but it is important to keep perspective in all this, never forgetting that MAJOR HISTORICAL changes are occurring around the world.
